LE PORTE DELLA SPERANZA
Milan, Italy
2025
Riva1920 contributed to Le Porte della Speranza (The Doors of Hope) project, conceived by Davide Rampello and designed by Michele De Lucchi, by crafting two solid wood doors in reclaimed Lebanese cedar for San Vittore Prison in Milan.
The doors are conceived as a dual symbolic threshold. On the one hand, they represent the passage of inmates from prison back into society, giving value to the educational and rehabilitative path promoted and supported by the project. On the other, they invite society to symbolically cross the threshold of the prison itself, moving beyond the prejudices still associated with incarceration and social reintegration.
The international Doors of Hope project, promoted by the Pontifical Foundation Gravissimum Educationis of the Dicastery for Culture and Education of the Holy See and implemented by the Jubilee Committee for Culture and Education together with Rampello & Partners, draws inspiration from the opening of the Holy Door at Rome’s Rebibbia Prison at the beginning of the Jubilee.
These doors aim to strengthen the dialogue between art, education, and attention to the most vulnerable, continuing the path of hope inaugurated by Pope Francis and reaffirmed by Pope Leo XIV.
