An almost one hundred years history combines the Riva family to the wood world.Environmental protection and love for nature are the core values of the company, always guided from the desire to experience and produce with refined craftsmanship.
Over the years the Riva brothers’ skillful hands discover a deep love for the cedar of Lebanon.
Majestic trunks, fallen after natural events or chopped down for scheduled cuts, who give life to a furniture Collection made of extraordinary iconic pieces characterised by their amazing scent.
The Riva brothers, enchanted by the mysticism of this wood and the uniqueness of its scent, wanted to capture the cedar wood essence and turn it into a fragrance :it’s the birth of our Riva1920 Home Fragrance.

It conveys all its strength and power merging the cedar wood of Lebanon with a mixture of precious ingredients: Guaiac wood, Tonka bean and grey amber.
You wanted to give strength to the head notes to create this blend through the introduction of the bitter orange of Sicily and the bergamot of Calabria. The heart notes melt together with the Damask rose, the coriander, the cardamom and the italian Jasmine.
This fragrance has been created relying on and collaborating with italian “noses” masters perfumers to celebrate the centenary of our company, which has solid roots just like the multiple branches of the cedar wood trees of Lebanon.
This persistent aroma is a sensory path which traces the history of Riva1920.

The manufacturing process is completely made by hand, using ancient extraction and maceration methods from the timeless italian perfumery tradition.
The fragrance is created on a natural basis, in full respect of the company philosophy, with the highest concentration of pure essence.
It’s a Made in Italy of rare harmony, thanks to a unique elegance and a melodious balance of aromas.

Cedar is the symbol of immortality and eternity, gives longevity and harmony and represents the incarnation of the great-heartedness and the spiritual elevation when thinking at the height of its trunk and its branches.
The holy statues are often carved in the wood of this sturdy and elegant tree.
The cedar of Lebanon, in ancient times, was widespread in the Eastern Mediterranean area.
It is believed that the Temple of Jerusalem, the Palace of Solomon and the Maze of Minos, were supported by cedar wood columns.
The cedar wood origin dates back to the late eighteenth century in the Eastern Mediterranean area and was tnen introduced and cultivated in parks and gardens in Europe and Italy.

“Home is where you smell the wood scent and the essence enters in your heart”.

Entered in the family’s workshop when they were very young, Maurizio and Davide Riva, nowadays owners of Riva 1920 together with their sister Anna, are the designers of some products of the company.

Gifted with great intuition and passion for the wood, they stood out in the furniture branch thanks to their business philosophy aimed to safeguard the arboreal patrimony, to preserve the traditions of craftsmanship, to use materials which are not harmful for the human health and not damaging the environment at all production stages.

The quality and the excellence are the core of their production, which is characterized by linear design to express in the best possible way the beauty and the preciosity of wood.
