Cedar

Reclaimed wood

Riva 1920 obtains cedars which have fallen in the wake of natural catastrophes such as mudslides, landslides and gales or which have been felled routinely for safety reasons such as for blocking roads or being too near housing. These colossi come from the north of Italy, especially Piedmont and Lombardy, and the wood is heavy and resistant, smelling strongly of balsam.

Production

This wood can be processed thanks to use of the most advanced technology in the form of CNC machines with 5 or 6 axes , which starting with only the trunk can produce any object desired. The finished products are then sanded and finished by hand. The collection, signed by internationally famous designers, has over 100 items, including stools, benches and chairs. Owing to its being a moth-repellent the wood is also coming to be used for wardrobes and other storage units.
