All the articles illustrated in this catalogue are available in as many as our different types of wood certified American plantation: cherry, maple, oak and walnut. On request teak, cedarwood and larch can also be supplied. The finish is obtained applying our traditional treatment using vegetable oil, materials that do not damage health and help bring out the beauty of the wood grain with all its natural splendour. Variation in colour should be considered of a positive value, as it reflects the natural properties of the materials which are composed entirely of natural fibres. It is easy to look after wooden furniture: just restore the finish whenever necessary. Consequently, all purchasers of Riva furniture are supplied with a maintenance kit with a bottle of the finish, a cloth for dusting, a steel-wool pad for removing any discolouration or scratches, a cloth for applying the finish and a pair of gloves. Solid wood remains a living material. It can also change colour under the influence of sunlight. Wood, with a natural finish, is sensitive to light and colour differences may appear between parts that remain covered and those open to the light. We recommend that in the first few months you change the position of any objects resting on top of the furniture. These properties, found in all solid wood furniture, are a sign of its genuineness and typical of how the traditional material of hand-crafted furniture responds in use.
